Rogue Rotating V Handle Review - My New Favorite Cable Attachment?
👉Buy the Rogue Rotating V-Handle Here
I recently picked up the Rogue Rotating V Grip cable attachment and wanted to give it a full run through in my gym. This was not just a quick unboxing. I tested the build quality, the rotation mechanism, and then took it through a wide variety of movements to see how it actually performs in real training. If you are building out a home gym or upgrading your cable attachments, here is everything you need to know.
First Impressions and Build Quality
The Rogue Rotating V Handle comes fully assembled and heavily wrapped. There is no setup required. Out of the box, it feels premium. The handles are aluminum with a clean anodized finish and no visible defects. The knurling is well done. It is not overly aggressive, but it is grippy enough that your hands are not going anywhere under load.
The rotation mechanism is smooth and quiet. The bearings feel controlled and not loose or sloppy. The attachment itself is fairly lightweight, only a couple of pounds, which makes it easy to use without feeling bulky on the cable stack.
There are rubber end grommets on the handles that your palms press against. I did not think much about them at first, but once I started training with it, they actually add comfort and give you a bit more leverage and stability.
Tricep Pushdowns
This is where the attachment really stands out. With a standard fixed V handle, your wrists are often locked into a position that may not feel natural. The rotating design allows the handles to move with you.
At the top of the pushdown, the handles rotate into a comfortable position. As you press down, they rotate slightly and allow you to get a stronger contraction at the bottom. It feels smooth on the wrists and gives a great tricep squeeze. For traditional tricep pushdowns, this attachment feels premium.
Underhand Pressdowns
Underhand grip pressdowns were not quite as comfortable. The angle of the handles makes this variation feel slightly awkward if you try to keep them in a fixed orientation. Letting the handles rotate more naturally improves the feel, but overall this is not the strongest use case for the attachment.
Lat Pulldowns
Even though Rogue markets this primarily as a tricep attachment, it works very well for close grip pulldowns. I personally do not love traditional parallel close grip pulldowns because they often feel awkward on the wrists and shift too much tension into the biceps.
With this attachment, keeping the handle parallel to the floor on underhand pulldowns feels excellent. It allows a comfortable wrist position and strong lat engagement. Overhand variations also feel solid, though I slightly prefer the underhand grip with this setup.
Seated Rows
Seated rows are another strong category for this handle. Using it with a neutral or slightly angled grip feels very natural. The wrist alignment is comfortable and there is no strain. Back contractions feel strong and controlled.
The only limitation is that certain hand positions can slightly reduce range of motion depending on body position, but overall it performs very well for rows.
Curls
Cable curls are surprisingly good with this attachment. The rotating design feels much more comfortable on the elbows compared to a straight bar. Standard curls feel smooth and controlled. Reverse curls, which often feel awkward no matter what you use, are still decent with this handle. It is not my favorite tool for reverse curls, but it works.
Other Movements
I also tested upright rows and straight arm pulldowns. Upright rows are usable but not ideal due to grip width limitations. I would still prefer a straight or EZ style bar for that movement.
Straight arm pulldowns, however, feel excellent. The hand angle allows strong lat engagement and a smooth pull through the full range of motion.
Final Verdict
For $95, this attachment is very impressive. It does not dominate every single movement, but it performs very well across tricep pushdowns, pulldowns, rows, curls, and straight arm pulldowns.
The build quality is exactly what you would expect from Rogue. Clean finish, smooth rotation, solid materials. If you are looking for one versatile cable attachment that can handle most upper body cable movements with a premium feel, this is a strong option.
